Birthday weekend!

Kirby's birthday celebration started on Friday. Our friends that live just a couple of hours away were able to come up for a night. This of course made Kirby so very happy. We planned a cook out for that night. We had steak, pasta salad, baked potatoes (for the couple of people that did not want pasta salad) and green beans. Oh yeah, and cake for dessert. After playing all afternoon and getting full tummies the kids were exhausted so bath time and bed time came quickly. They didn't really want to settle down but finally all 5 were out cold.

Saturday brought a pancake breakfast complete with eggs and bacon. After this was gobbled up there was more outside play time which now included a small swimming pool. This was a big hit despite the cold water that had the kids shivering and with blue lips. Unfortunately our friends could not stay another night so after pool time we had lunch, put the kids down for naps and all rested ourselves. After naps our friends headed off for home. We had a quiet evening as a family and then got ready for Sunday.

Sunday morning meeting was at our home. Since this was Kirby's actual birthday we planned to have another cake during the break. Before everyone arrived we gave Kirby his gift, a big boy bike! He was really excited and of course wanted to ride right away and all the rest of the day. We had a wonderful time of fellowship, lunch and a great restful family afternoon. I think Kirby had a great birthday!
